Family background

Alexander Charles Brown was born c1860. He married Eliza Marion Margetts (1862-1937) 28 March 1881 at Sydney, and they had eight sons and five daughters. Brown died 25 March 1952 at Lewisham, NSW, aged 92 years, and he was interred in the Church of England Section of Woronora Cemetery. He left a Will and his estate and assets were valued at £8,538. Brown lived at 59 Denison Road, Lewisham.

Community activity

Alexander Charles Brown was a justice of the peace (JP). As Mayor of Darlington Council in 1929, Brown unveiled a drinking fountain at Darlington Public School in memory of early residents David and Jessie Edward.

Alexander Charles Brown was an alderman on Darlington Council in 1914-37. He was mayor in 1929.
