Family background

Frederick Edward Finn was born on 22 March 1887 in Redfern, NSW, son of Joseph Finn and Margaret McKenna. He married Mary Mildred Harrison (1885-1957) on 17 February 1912 at The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Waterloo. There were four children; 3 sons and 1 daughter. Frederick Edward Finn died on 17 April 1959 (late of 330 George Street, Waterloo), aged 72 years and he was buried at Waverley Cemetery. He lived at 151 George Street, Waterloo, in 1930.

Community activity

Finn was appointed Mayor in 1937 by the Minister for Local Government following a deadlock between six Progressive and six Labor aldermen.

Local government service

Frederick Edward Finn was an alderman on Waterloo Council in 1932-37. He was mayor in 1936-37.
