Family background

Frederick John Walters appears to have been born in 1866 to Frederick Walters and his wife Kate. In 1889, he married Herbertena Maria Taylor in Sydney. In 1906, he lived at ‘Lincoln’ on Railway Street near Swanson Street. Shortly afterwards, he moved to Mosman. Walters died at his home, 12 Punch Street, Mosman on 31 March 1945 leaving behind his widow and three living children. He was cremated.

Occupation & interests

Walters’ boot factory was located on Parramatta Road, Forest Lodge. In 1907, he was recorded as a ‘retired boot manufacturer’.

Local government service

Frederick John Walters was an alderman on Erskineville Council in 1905-07, representing North Ward. He was also an alderman on Mosman Council from 1916 to 1919.
