Family background

George Douglas Robertson was born 11 March 1843 at Sydney, NSW, son of John Robertson and Martha Ferguson Given. He married Agnes R Gouldthorp 29 September 1863 at Scot’s Presbyterian Church, Redfern, NSW, and they had six children. Robertson dropped dead in Cleveland Street, Sydney, while running to catch a Randwick tram, 26 September 1883, aged 40 years, and he was interred in the Old Church of England Section of Rookwood Cemetery. He did not leave a Will. George Robertson lived in Newtown Road, Darlington.

George Douglas Robertson worked with his father, a well known coachbuilder, whose works were at Pitt Street South, Sydney.

Local government service

George Douglas Robertson was an alderman on Darlington Council in 1876-77.
