Family background

Jenny Green lives in the inner city with her partner David.

Occupation & interests

Jenny operates her own consultancy working in the areas of organisational and professional development, strategic planning, good governance and change management, as at 2020. She currently consults with the Council of Australasian Tribunals. Prior to this Jenny was the Academic Director of the National Judicial College of Australia. Jenny worked in the adult learning and teaching sector for more than 30 years. She was a lecturer at the University of Technology, Sydney’s (UTS) Faculty of Arts Social Science and was a senior consultant at UTS for 15 years. In addition to her professional development consultancy business, Jenny established and operated a wholesale/import business. This small business involved the design, manufacture and sale of homeware products from India, China and Thailand to retailers in Australia and Asia.

Jenny is a Fellow with the Australian Institute of Company Directors and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Asian Studies, a Graduate Diploma TESOL and a Masters of Adult Education.

Community activity

Jenny Green is a non-executive director with several not-for-profit organisations including the Art Gallery of NSW (Members), the Australian Design Centre, Sydney Community Foundation and Tom Bass Sculpture School and Studio.

Jenny also supports her local community by volunteering at the Wayside Chapel, Kings Cross.

Local government service

Jenny Green was a City of Sydney councillor from 2012 until 2016, and was a member of Clover Moore’s independent team. As a councillor, Jenny was particularly interested in supporting small businesses, community arts organisations and the revitalisation and diversification of retail and entertainment precincts in the City of Sydney local government area.

During her term in office, she was the Deputy Chair of the Cultural and Community Committee and the Co-Chair of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Panel. She was the councillor representative on the Independent Design Advisory Panel, the Public Art Advisory Panel and the Inclusion and Disability Advisory Panel; and was an alternate member on the Central Sydney Planning Committee.
