Family background

John William Elliott Snr was born about 1844. In 1862, he married Clara Booth in Sydney and the couple went on to have a total of 15 children. They lived at 13 Macdonald Street Macdonaldtown. He died in June 1914 and was buried in the Anglican cemetery, Rookwood. One of his sons, also named John William Elliott, was also an alderman and mayor of Erskineville.
