Family background

Philip Stephen Evans was born on 2 September 1896 in Mascot, NSW, son of Philip Dykins Evans and Jane McNabb. He married Veronica Margaret Andersen (1901-49) on 29 September 1923 in Redfern, NSW. There were four children, 2 sons and 2 daughters. Evans died on 23 June 1963 at hospital, late of Dalmeny Avenue, Rosebery, NSW and he was buried with his wife in the Roman Catholic Section of Botany Cemetery. He lived at 24 Dalmeny Avenue, Waterloo.

Occupation & interests

A Labor alderman, Evans had strong links with the union movement. Official Labor, of which he was a member, was socially conservative and anti-communist.

Local government service

Philip Stephen Evans was an alderman on Waterloo Council in 1945-46.
