Family background

Robert Elstub lived at 116 Regent Street, Newtown. He married Martha Elizabeth Thompson in 1855, and she died in 1911. In 1913 he married a second time to Alma Elizabeth Goldspring. Robert Elstub died in February 1915.

Community activity

Robert Elstub was a justice of the peace (JP). He was a member of the Loyal St Johns Lodge, No 6 Newtown, MUIOOF.

Local government service

Robert Elstub was an alderman on Newtown Council in 1894-1915, representing Kingston Ward. He died in 1915, at which time he was preparing to contest the seat again.
