Family background

Robert Morrow was born in 1826, in County Fermanagh, Ireland. Morrow arrived to Sydney on 15 February 1842 on the Sarah Botsford. He was married in 1847 in Sydney to Maria Ekins (1825-80). They had three daughters and one son. He died 17 March 1868, aged 42 years.

 

Occupation & interests

Morrow, an Irish farm labourer, became publican of the Sir Richard Bourke Hotel, Camperdown in 1853. From 1854 to 1868 he was publican of the Honest Irishman at 138 Parramatta Road, Camperdown. His widow Maria ran this hotel from the time of Robert’s death in 1868 till her death on 16 March 1880.

Local government service

Robert Morrow was an alderman on Cook Borough from 1863 to 1864. He resigned in June 1864 and was replaced by William O’Brien, effective 13 June 1864.
