Family background

Thomas Tye was the son of William Tye, who served on Newtown Council from 1878-82. He was the nephew of Alfred Tye, an alderman on Glebe Council. Thomas Tye died on 9 December 1908.

Local government service

Thomas Tye was an alderman on Newtown Council in 1888-90, representing Enmore Ward. He had been elected on 18 December 1888 to fill the seat rendered vacant by the resignation of George Nelson.
