William Henry John Slowgrove was born at Waterloo, Sydney on 21 December 1920. In 1942 at St Peters, Sydney, William John Henry [sic] Slowgrove married Gwendoline Merle McDonald.

Occupation & interests

William Henry John Slowgrove was living at Alexandria when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 15 September1942. He was a Leading Aircraftman with the 2nd Flying Boat Maintenance Unit before his discharge on 8 November 1945.

Local government service

William Slowgrove was elected Alderman for City Ward, 1 December 1956 to 4 December 1959 and for Northcott Ward, 5 December 1959 to 30 November 1962. He was a member of the Works Committee and the Health and Recreations Committee from 1957 to 1962. Slowgrove represented the Democratic Labor Party (DLP).
