Family background

Arthur Peter Rouw was born on 24 February 1866 in Newcastle, New South Wales to his English parents, Arthur Peter and Mary Rouw. In 1903, he married Etty Elizabeth McMinn in Sydney and they had three children together, Laura, Marjorie and John. The family lived at 34 Marriott Street, Redfern during the 1920s and early 1930s, when they moved a few doors down to number 12. From about 1936, they lived at 12 Blenheim Street, Randwick and then 6 Eurimbla Ave, Randwick. He died on 19 August 1950 at his residence at 552 Bourke Street, Moore Park.

Occupation & interests

Arthur Rouw was a storeman and an auditor and member of the Storemen and Packers Union. He was listed in the electoral rolls as retired in 1936.

Local government service

Rouw was elected as an aldermen of the Surry Hills Ward, Redfern Council on 1 December 1928. He served until 1934.
