Family background

Daniel Cloughessy was born on the 19 August 1843 at Limerick, Ireland, the son of Daniel Cloughessy Snr and Catherine Jones. He married Mary Quigley (-1928) on the 13 January 1890 at Sydney, and they had three sons and two daughters. Cloughessy died at Redfern, NSW, on the 25 January 1916, aged 72 years; he was buried in the Catholic Mortuary Rookwood. He left no Will. Daniel Cloughessy lived at Mitchell Road, Alexandria.

Occupation & interests

Daniel Cloughessy was a butcher. He was the licensee of the Commercial Hotel, Botany Road, Alexandria in c1893. He was a member of the Mount Carmel and Kindred AHC Guild.

Local government service

Cloughessy was an alderman on Alexandria Council 1888-89, representing the South Ward.
