Family background

Ernest Bishop was born on the 2 August 1885 at Sydney, NSW, the son of Frederick Adolphus Bishop and his wife Eliza Sarah. He married Francesca Vintzentz (1876-1927) on 14 December 1912 at Sydney, NSW. They had no children. Ernest Bishop died at the Coast Hospital, Little Bay, on the 13 July 1923, aged 37 years; he was buried in the Church of England Section of Rookwood Cemetery. He left no Will. Ernest Bishop lived at 125 Mitchell Road, Alexandria.

Occupation & interests

Ernest Bishop was connected with the wholesale fruit trade, and was associated with the firm of Messrs Moore and Lloyd for about 16 years. Ernest Bishop was a Freemason and a member of Waterloo Lodge No 15, Lodge Cosmopolitan No 67 and Aurora Royal Arch Chapter No 586. He was also a delegate of the Cook Federal Labour Council.

Community activity

Ernest Bishop was a member of the committee of the South Sydney Hospital, in which he took an active interest.

Local government service

Ernest Bishop was an alderman on Alexandria Council 1920-23 for the West Ward.
