Family background

Henry Lipscombe was born c1830 at Ewell, Surrey, England, the son of William Lipscombe and Elizabeth Wassel. He married Elizabeth Neville (1827-91) on 28 May 1848, in Sussex, England, and they had three sons and five daughters. Lipscombe and his wife immigrated to Australia by the ship ‘Emigrant’ which arrived at Brisbane on 26 September 1850. Lipscombe died at Burwood, NSW, on 20 September 1891, aged 60 years; he was buried at Enfield St Thomas Church of England Cemetery. Henry Lipscombe lived in Waterloo Road, Alexandria.

Lipscombe was a Freemason and a member of Burwood Masonic Lodge.
