Family background

James Maloney was married to Katherine Frances Gibbons in 1854 at St Michaels Catholic Church, Bathurst. He died on 1 June 1882, aged 67 years. His wife Katherine Maloney died 24 August 1885.

Local government service

James Maloney was an aldermen for Cook municipality 1867-69, and its mayor in 1868. He was an alderman on Camperdown Council 1873-78.

Cook Council under Mayor James Maloney in 1868 informed the Inspector General of Police of the ‘disgraceful behaviour and obscene language of young men’ congregating at street corners in Camperdown, and requested an additional constable be appointed to the district.
