Family background

John Evans was born c1840, the son of Charles Evans. He married Sarah Elizabeth Wiseman (1843-1919) at Sydney on 11 March 1865. John Evans died at Ryde, NSW on 13 March 1896, aged 56 years; he was buried in the Church of England section of Rookwood Cemetery. He left a Will and his estate and assets were assessed at £1,136. John Evans lived at Brandling Street, Alexandria.

John Evans operated his business as an Alexandria van proprietor which closely identified with the local community.
