Family background
Joseph Seale was born in Ireland in 1819. He was married in 1844, to Susanna Owen (1823-1875); they had six sons and six daughters. The family arrived to Sydney on 14 September 1836 on the Runnymede. He died on 23 June 1888, aged 69 years.
Local government service
Joseph Seale was an alderman on Camperdown Council in 1868-69. He was mayor of Camperdown in 1868.
