Family background

William Thomas Henson was christened at St James Church of England, Sydney, in 1850, the son of Robert and Ellen Henson. In 1872 he married Norah M Norris at Sydney and had four sons and three daughters. Three of his sons served in World War 1. He died at Marrickville in November 1926.

Local government service

William Thomas Henson was Alderman for Denison Ward, 7 December 1900 to 30 November 1902 and for Pyrmont Ward, 1 December 1904 to 30 November 1909. He was a member of the Works Committee, 1901-02 and 1905-09, the Electric Lighting Committee and the Health and By-Laws Committee from 1905-06; and the Finance Committee in 1905.
