Family background

Arthur Pease was born in 1863 in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, the son of John Pease and Harriet Storey. He married Alice Blanche Peek (1864-1952) 17 March 1887 at Redfern, NSW, and they had two sons and two daughters. Pease died 11 April 1954 at his daughters home, 14 O’Donnell Street, North Bondi, NSW, aged 90 years, and he was privately cremated. He did not leave a Will. Arthur Pease lived at 9 Liberty Road, Stanmore.

Occupation & interests

In 1903 Arthur Pease was a registered partner in the firm John Pease and Co, importers of blind makers, upholsterers and cabinetmakers materials The business premises were at 8, 9 and 10 City Road, Darlington. He was also a partner in The Hercules Furniture Manufacturing Company whose business premises were at 404 Sussex Street, Sydney, in 1912.

Local government service

Alexander Pease was an alderman on Darlington Council in 1914-16.
