Family background

Francis John Crocker was born in 1850 to Francis and Jane Croker. In 1875, he married Margaret Casson. He was listed as living at Erskineville Road in 1886. In 1903, he was living at 50 Gowrie Street, Newtown. Crocker died on 16 July 1934 at his daughter’s residence, 42 George Street, St Peters.

Occupation & interests

During the 1880s, Croker was a speculative builder active in the Macdonaldtown area, always in partnership with John Goddard. After Goddard’s bankruptcy in May 1888, Crocker seems to have curtailed his activities but he was again active in the twentieth century.

Local government service

Francis J Crocker was an alderman on Macdonaldtown (Erskineville) Council in 1885-87.
