John William Griffiths was born 26 May 1909 at West Wyalong, NSW, the son of John William Griffiths and Rebecca Russell. He married Charlotte Mary Carlton (1911-64) 5 October 1940 at West Wyalong, and they had three children. Griffiths died 8 May 1979, aged 69 years, at Sydney, NSW, and he was cremated at Rookwood Crematorium. He lived at 6 Wrights Avenue, Marrickville.
Occupation & interests
Griffiths was a plumber. He was a member of the Camperdown Bowling Club.
Local government service
John William Griffiths was an alderman on Darlington Council in 1938-48. He was mayor in 1945 and Deputy Mayor in 1948.
