Genealogical details for John Henderson have not been confirmed. John Henderson of the Audit Office married Mary Ann, the second daughter of Thomas Keane, optician of Leeds, on 22 June 1842, but no further information is known.

Occupation & interests

Alderman John Henderson may have been a clerk in the Audit Office but this has not been confirmed. In 1844, there were three persons named John Henderson in Sydney: John Henderson, Gent, was living at 208 Elizabeth Street. An engineer of the same name was at Millers Point and the third John Henderson was living at Castlereagh Street. By December 1844, the house formerly occupied by John Henderson in Castlereagh Street was advertised for rent. In 1851, a John Henderson was at the Dolphin Inn at 17 Bridge Street, and in 1861, a John Henderson was living at Providence Place.
