Family background

Michael Madigan was born c1867, the son of Michael Madigan and Elsie Considine. He married Mary Jane O’Neill (1869-1954) 21 August 1889 at Sydney, NSW, and they had five sons and two daughters. Madigan died 23 July 1956, aged 91 years, in hospital, late of Darlington, and was cremated at the Eastern Suburbs Crematorium. Michael Madigan lived at 48 Raglan Street, Darlington.

Community activity

Michael Madigan was a justice of the peace (JP). He was vice president of the Darlington branch of the Australian Labor Party in 1923.

Local government service

Michael Madigan was an alderman on Darlington Council in 1914-22. He was mayor in 1921.
