Valentine Edward Ayre was born on 15 December 1902 in London, England. In 1930 in Sydney, he married Alexandra F McPherson.

Occupation & interests

Ayre enlisted in the Australian Army on 31 March 1942 at Ashfield, Sydney. He served part-time with the 10th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps, and was discharged on 12 July 1943.

Ayre was Alderman for Fitzroy Ward, 1 December 1962 to 3 December 1965. He was a member of the Works Committee, 1963-65 and the Health and Recreation Services Committee, 1963-65. He represented the Civic Reform Association.
