Family background

Darcy Howard Thomas, the son of Frederick Thomas, bootmaker and Maria Hodges, was born in Adelaide in 1889. On 16 November 1910, he married Annie Sylvia Tripp at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Sydney.  They had two children but later separated. In 1941, Annie Thomas petitioned for a divorce on the grounds of her husband’s adultery. Thomas died on 13 September 1952 at his home at 8 John Street, Erskineville.

Thomas worked as a hairdresser at various salons on Erskineville Road.

Local government service

Darcy Howard Thomas was an alderman on Erskineville Council in 1927-31, representing Middle Ward.
