Occupation & interests

Edward Mandla received a First Class Honours Degree in Commerce from the University of NSW, majoring in Information Systems.  He has several decades of experience in business, including leadership roles in Australian and multinational organisations; he has also held various board positions. He is the founder and general manager of Mandlason Search, a recruitment and executive search firm. He has advised on federal government technology policy, sat on federal government ministerial taskforces, and has mentored young entrepreneurs under the Step Up Program. He is a former President of the Australian Computer Society, and was made an Honorary Life Member in 2007.

Community activity

Edward is the 2012 and 2013 Australian Masters category Olympic Weightlifting Champion as well as a current NSW Masters record holder.

Honours & awards

Edward Mandla was awarded the first University Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Information Systems.

Local government service

Edward Mandla was elected as a Liberal Party councillor on the City of Sydney Council for one term from 2012 until 2016. He eventually left the party.

As a councillor, Edward described himself as ‘passionate about providing civic leadership, creative thought and an interface between the residents of Sydney and Council.’
