Family background

Francis (Frank) Hamilton Forsyth was born 5 September 1851 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, the son of Robert Forsyth and Margaret Hamilton. He arrived at Geelong, Victoria, with his parents and brother 30 June 1854 by the ship ‘Lord Stanley’. He married Selina Ann Green (1854-1927) 11 January 1875 at Sydney, NSW, and they had two sons and five daughters. He died 27 June 1930, aged 79 years, at a private hospital in Stanmore, late of Enmore, and he was cremated at Rookwood Crematorium. He left no Will. Francis Hamilton Forsyth lived at 8 Raglan Street, Darlington.

Occupation & interests

Francis Hamilton Forsyth was a Freemason and a member of the Loyal St John’s Lodge No. 6 and he was the Secretary of the Operative Bricklayer’s Society No. 2 Lodge.

Local government service

Francis Hamilton Forsyth was an alderman on Darlington Council in 1883-85. He was an Auditor for Darlington Council in 1882.
