Family background
Francis Bede Plasto was born at Paddington on 6 May 1893, the son of Thomas Edgar Augustine Plasto and Cecila Bridget Curran.
He married Ethel Kate Brownlow at Lavender Bay, NSW on 23 June 1921 and they had a daughter. They lived on the corner of Pitt and Redfern Street, Redfern. Plasto and his wife divorced in 1937.
Plasto died at North Bondi on 7 December 1958, aged 66 years, and was buried in the Catholic Section of Waverley Cemetery.
Occupation & interests
In 1921 Francis Plasto was a part owner of the firm Thomas Motor Service which provided hire cars. Plasto was the licensee of the Cricketer’s Rest Hotel at the Corner of Pitt and Redfern Streets, Redfern.
Local government service
Francis Plasto was elected an alderman on Redfern Council, representing Belmore Ward, following the resignation of Alderman R A McDonald in 1927. He served as an alderman on the council until 1941.
