Family background

Francisco Pietro Fitzjohn was born at Millers Point to fisherman, Francis Fitzjohn about 1891. He married Florence Julia Mulrine in 1925 and they had at least two sons. By the 1950s, he had become estranged from his wife. He died on 17 December 1962 at Lidcombe State Hospital. He was buried in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Botany.

Francisco Pietro Fitzjohn was also known as Frank Fitzjohn, under which name he was a noted amateur boxer winning the Australian bantamweight title in 1906 and 1907; His son Colin was also a boxer. Francisco Pietro Fitzjohn lived at 129 Mitchell Road, Alexandria.

Local government service

Francisco Pietro Fitzjohn was an alderman on Erskineville Council in 1942-48. He went on leave from council in July 1942 due to injuries but returned in July 1943.
