George McKay was born in Sydney in 1973. He was married in 1895 to Sydney Alice Graff. He died on 5 February 1911, aged 37 years.

George McKay was an alderman on Camperdown Council in 1898-1900. In 1898 McKay told the council it took a Camperdown constable two or three hours to cover his beat, and larrikins took advantage of this to create disturbances. McKay sought more police protection for Camperdown
