Family background

James Kerr Wilson was born in Scotland in about 1851. His parents were John Kerr Wilson and Janet nee Wilson. On 2 October 1880, James Wilson married Catherine Mary Holden, daughter of John Holden of Windsor, at Christ Church, Sydney. They lived at 162 Union Street in 1913. Wilson died on 31 May 1917 at Prince Alfred Hospital aged 66. He was buried in the Presbyterian cemetery, Rookwood.

Occupation & interests

In 1881, Wilson’s occupation was recorded as carpenter and joiner. By the 1890s, he was a builder.

Local government service

James Kerr Wilson was an alderman on Erskineville Council in 1894-97 and 1903-10, representing South Ward.
