John Cahill was born in 1837, in Dundalk, Ireland, to William and Jane Cahill. He died 19 February 1899, aged 62 years. His uncle was Owen Caraher, an alderman on Camperdown and the City of Sydney councils.
Occupation & interests
John Cahill, a Camperdown resident from 1864, managed the soap and candle factory of uncle Owen Caraher, and on his uncle’s death in 1879, Cahill became proprietor of the Australian Soap Works. He was a trustee of Camperdown Park.
Local government service
John Cahill was an alderman on Camperdown Council 1885-98.
