Family background
Joseph Herbert Gander was born in Dubbo. He died at his home on Enmore Road, Enmore on 22 November 1954. He was survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
Occupation & interests
Gander was president of the Pony Trotters and Owners Association in 1928. He was also a prominent A Grade cricketer.
Parliamentary service
Gander was the Federal Member for Reid in the House of Representatives from 19 December 1931 to 21 September 1940. He was a member of Lang Labor.
Local government service
Joseph Gander was an alderman on Newtown Council in 1929-31, representing Camden Ward.
