Family background
The birth of Michael Charles Jordan was registered in Victoria 1895. His parents were Charles Joseph, railway employee, and Dorothy Jordan (nee Connolly). Jordan later moved to Sydney and his marriage to Mary Barry was registered at Annandale in 1920. She appears to have died soon after. His marriage to widower, Doris Winfred Thorpe was registered at Glebe in 1934. His wife pre-deceased him on 4 October 1958. There were no children from either marriage. Michael Jordan died on 22 March 1969 at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown. He was buried in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Woronora.
Occupation & interests
Michael Jordan ran at store at 87 George Street, where he also lived. He purchased the property jointly with his second wife on 24 February 1947. It was one of the buildings constructed in the 1880s by builder John Goddard, who was also an alderman on Erskineville Council.
Local government service
Michael Charles Jordan was an alderman on Erskineville Council in 1942-48. He was mayor in 1946.
