Family background

Percy Thomas Algernon Gill was born on 15 October 1889 in Cooma, NSW, son of Charles Munro Gill and Frances Rebecca Gauson. He married (1) Lillian May Tait (1904-1938) on 6 February 1926 in Redfern, NSW and he married (2) Vivian Marie Day Percy on 7 November 1942 at Liverpool, NSW. Gill died on 5 October 1957 at his residence in Cabramatta, NSW, aged 68 and he was buried in the Presbyterian Section of Rookwood Cemetery. He lived at 44 Mentmore Avenue, Rosebery.

His sister Lilian Fowler (nee Gill) was an alderman in the Newtown Municipal Council 1928-48 and Mayor of Newtown in 1938-39.

Community activity

Percy Gill was a Freemason and a member of the Holroyd Chapter 253; Lodge Celebration No 345 and The Companions of Celebration Royal Arch Chapter No 509.

Local government service

Percy Gill was an alderman on Waterloo Council in 1934-37.
