Richard Herbert Gorman was born in 1880 at Brisbane Water, NSW, son of Richard Gorman and Sarah. Unmarried, he died at Cook Street Glebe on 8 September 1945, aged 65 years.

Community activity

Gorman, like most Glebe Labor aldermen of the 1940s was Catholic, anti-Communist, socially conservative, were likely to belong to a moderate union, and happy to co-operate with Sussex Street.

Local government service

Richard Gorman was elected as an Official (McKell) Labor candidate in December 1944 municipal elections for a three years term. He died suddenly on 8 September 1945.
