Family background

Sydney Albert Earle Green was born on 11 August 1901 at Leichhardt, NSW, the son of Albert Henry Green and Kathleen Mary Sayers.

He married Violet Rose Dennett (1903-1969) at Redfern, NSW, on 25 February 1933. They lived at 151 Regent Street, Redfern. Green died 11 May 1969 At Mascot, NSW, aged 67 years. He was buried at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park.

Occupation & interests

Sydney Green, a Golden Grove ward alderman worked as a labourer but stood for election as a non-Labor representative. This was unusual in that he was typical of the small scale businessman, trade and commerce men, who composed the majority of anti-Labor representatives on Council.

Local government service

Sydney Albert Earle Green was an alderman for Golden Grove Ward in 1941.
