Family background

William Joseph Huntley was born on 9 July 1895 in Sydney, NSW, son of John Kingsley and Rose Ann Fegan. He married (1) Rachel Eileen Bellemy (1898-1961) 20 January 1917 in Granville, NSW, there were 2 sons, and he married (2) Edna May Huntley on 5 January 1963 in Sydney, NSW. William Joseph Huntley died on 22 December 1976 at hospital, aged 81 years. His remains were bequeathed to a university. He lived at the ‘Moore Park Hotel’, Dowling Street, Waterloo (1943).

Occupation & interests

He was the publican of the ’Rose & Crown Hotel’, Paddington (1935); the ’Dumbarton Castle Hotel’, Sydney (1936), the ’Shortland Hotel’, Newcastle (1941) and the ’Moore Park Hotel’ (1943).

Local government service

William Joseph Huntley was an alderman on Waterloo Council in 1945-48.
