Family background

William Ernest Keats one of four children of Julia and George Keats. He was born in 1872. He lived at 6 Watkins Street and Georgina Street in Newtown, as well as 74 Cavendish Street, Stanmore. He died on 13 January 1952.

William Keats was a builder and contractor, following in the stead of his parents George and Julia.

William Keats was a Justice of the Peace (JP).

Local government service

William Ernest Keats was an alderman on Newtown Council in 1917-18 and 1920-22, representing O’Connell Ward. He was on the on the Lighting and Health Committee. He went on to serve on Rockdale Council.
